You might think that a broke 47 year old singer/songwriter ought to put down his thrift store guitar, get a regular job and move out of that damn storage garage/office. But then you've probably never met Bob Moss, heard one of his obscure recordings or seen any of his unique visual art.

Bob was born in 1953, the son of an American serviceman. Bob's interest in music was spurred at an early age by a 1960's t.v. show that featured singer/banjo strummer Dolly Parton. Thus, the young Bob Moss asked his parents to buy him a banjo and so it began.

The first songs he learned to play came from Pete Seeger's book "How to Play the 5 String Banjo". Other early influences were Woody Guthrie, the Beach Boys, Little Jimmy Dickens, Elvis, and Oscar Brand to name just a few.

Like many artists, Bob has suffered his share of demons as dramatized in his plaintive, matter of fact song: "Nyquil Habit". The song tells of years of struggle with substance abuse with the popular over-the-counter sleep medication.

Bob's debut CD "Tragic Tales of the West" was released in 1995. Then followed "Headjug" (CD) in 1997. Notably, Bob's "Headjug" CD features the distinctive steel guitar stylings of the legendary Alvino Rey. Alvino Rey has recorded with such greats as Elvis, Gene Autry, Bing Crosby and Dean Martin.

In the Spring of 2001, a best of Bob Moss CD, aptly titled" My best so far..." (Soundco Records) was released. The new CD includes two never before heard recordings of Bob's work with his friends "The New Deciders" and two tracks from a soon to be released CD entitled "Folknic" which is a collection of classic Folk, Country and Pop cover songs that Bob has re-interpreted in his unique style.

Currently, Bob has been busy writing, recording and performing songs for his Frank Sinatra tribute Cd. Go figure?

Finally, Bob Moss's talent as a visual artist is easily as impressive as his music. As a true outsider, Bob's primitive visionary style as garnered much attention as evidenced by his exhibition at the Cordell Taylor gallery.
