The Moss Piglets came out with BitterRoot in 2006. This recording shows their transition to a much more oldtimey and bluegrass-based sound. The recording itself uses the single mic technique favored by many bluegrass artists today (and yesterday).
Ian Gamble again provides the lead guitar chops as well as banjo, John Barcay has ditched the digital piano for a melodica, John Goolsby has the acoustic guitar duties, and George Payne has moved from drums to work the stand-up bass.
Great vocal harmonies from Gamble, Barcay & Goolsby on this second recording. The song selections are more consistent than on their first CD. The quirky sense of humor not as much in evidence here as the first CD, but perhaps overall a more consistent product.
A must-have CD to add to your Moss Piglet collection.
