Moth : Fruit Machine Scenario

It is the most rocky a chillout album you are ever likely to find, an amazing blend of chilled rock, trip hop, tangoish waltzes reminiscent of Gotan Project (yes, with an accordian), acoustic rock, and there is even a choir in there somewhere.

Album Notes

"This album represents a change in mood for Moth - a return to live instrumentation (mostly) with some traditional piano/guitar/drums arrangements reminiscent of the live act, but there are (as always with Moth) a few curve balls in there. Just when you think that you have Moth sussed, they will take the ball and throw it in a completely unexpected direction. That is one of the things I love about Moth - they are not afraid to make artistic decisions based on the needs of the song. The strength of the songwriting and the consistent quality of Tina's exquisitely haunting vocals makes this album a delight to listen to over and over, and somehow manages to be simultaneously relaxing to listen to and challenging at the same time. You will very rarely find music like this - it takes bravery to step out of the mould and trap that so many bands fall into. Fruit Machine Scenario is worth buying for "Close the Door" alone - the music video won several awards, yet on closer examination, it is tracks like the heartfelt "Under the Debris", and "Secrets" that really shine quietly in this extraordinary selection of songs.
