Mother of Pearl will have to forgive me as I wanted to enjoy their set as much a

Well Wednesday gives us a chance to hear Kashmir artists in al their glory and last night it was the turn of Paul Cutting, Walnut Sound and Mother of Pearl to give us a full set of their individual talents and it proved to be one of the most diverse nights the klub has seen this year.
Mother of Pearl will have to forgive me as I wanted to enjoy their set as much as write about it as they are fast becoming favourites of mine.
Their first song “Like a Song” was an immediate stamp on the Kashmir consciousness. It had a thumping rock sound, charisma and sex appeal all rolled into one as our singer reminds us that it's "just a song".
Their second piece had an eastern acoustic opening with a pulsing bass line throughout and consistent percussion. The vocal was passionate with some subtle harmonies. "Are you happy here in the happy house". Who knows?
The third, preceding a CD plug was a rabble-rousing effort with the low end standing out more here. Good mid set choice of song, proceedings are moving along nicely.
“Just a Matter of Time” flowed well with a rock ballad intro and consistent rhythm throughout.
“Forever” was a love song although in a minor key and staying true to the bands genre. It was placed well before the next song “Dazed” which my notes say was simply "Pure Rock".
With that momentum the next piece presented itself as the heaviest of the set before the finale of “Borders”.
The above mentioned grabbed the audience straight away into an abyss of future
sentimentality. It was a slow ballad 4 Non-Blondesesque piece with an invitation for audience participation and a universal finish ensuring the memory for everyone was a good one. They play The Monarch on 14th May. Don't miss them!

It's clear that they mean business
author: Making Music Magazine
As soon as Web Demonology opens the envelope containing Mother of Pearl's submission, it's clear that they mean business. With the most professional biog and notes I've ever seen in a demo, MOP also have some soaring, brilliantly-structured pop to back it all up. Granted, the fact that they are fronted by a vocalist already known in another field - Italian MTV VJ Alessandra De Siati - is immediately going to attract the column inches, but she is also a damn fine singer. There's nothing vaultingly ambitious or devastatingly original about this music, but it's also melodic pop strong enough to mean Mother of Pearl could easily be holding up the Radio 2 playlist a year from now.

They are soon to take America by storm
author: Adrian Phelan (Ri-Ra Magazine)
Having taken a chance on the support band at the recent Aslan gig in Camden I and a few more early birds were generously rewarded with a taste of one of London's most exciting up and coming live acts.
Mother of Pearl are an Italian three piece rock combo currently making waves on both sides of the Irish Sea, and are soon to take America by storm with a two week tour kicking off at New York's famous CBGB's.
Fronted by the charismatic Ali De Siati with Marco Schnabl on guitar and P Cuscito on drums their sound crosses the spectrum of rock from very heavy off the Richter scale stuff to the more sentimental rock ballad. With the ability to adapt, their live show has captured audiences in venues as grand as The Point in Dublin (again in support of Aslan) and as intimate as the Kashmir Klub in London.
They are no strangers to the music press either with various articles appearing in recent issues of Hot Press and Making Music Magazine, who were highly impressed by the band's debut EP calling it "Demo of the Month".
Mother of Pearl gig regularly in Britain and Ireland and are on a steadfast route towards major success. So my advice is catch them now, before the bigger arenas do. For further information on live dates and their self produced six track EP aptly titled "Mother of Pearl" log on to their website at www.mother-of-pearl.co.uk.
