BIO:
MSH/MOTHER TURTLE
Marsia Shuron Harris performs solo and with the band Mother Turtle. Her brand of SoulRock is said to "inspire even the most cynical bastard to dance" (Northeast Performer Magazine). Songs are soulful, rooted in personal growth, social consciousness, love and a larger vision for the world as a whole. Her blend of soul, rock, acoustic and jazz, tends to attract a variety of music fans and people of all ages can be seen dancing to the infectious rhythms. The Union News calls her music, “inspirational” and “moving.” Her voice is distinctive. Even vocal virtuoso Martin Sexton says that Marsia has “the deepest, darkest, most delicious voice.” She has opened for Sexton as well as other recording artist’s such as, Meshell Ndegeocello and Jeffrey Gaines. In the summer of 2004, Marsia formed Mother Turtle, where she is songwriter and front woman for the band. Lead guitarist Atticus Robbins, brings a unique mix of Latin, reggae and rock to the group, while percussionist Busta B. an accomplished African drummer from the Bamidele Dance and Drum Troupe, keeps the grooves upbeat and danceable. On bass is the talented and funky, Peter Kim, who replaced original MT bassist Adam Bergeron in 2005. Each member of Mother Turtle brings something very different to the group, resulting in music that moves not only your hips but your mind and spirit as well. Performing to enthusiastic crowds in the Northeast, 2007 should find Mother Turtle working on first-time group collaborations and recording a new CD of songs written over the last 2 years.

I love this CD, and just wish that Mother Turtle and Marsia Shuron Harris had more music I could listen to.
There is a quality to Harris' voice and the arrangements on a lot of these songs which reminds me of early Joan Armatrading (whose records I wore out). Absolutely worth the money. Buy this CD now!!!!
