Album Notes

'Like their Lower East Side ancestors The Velvet Underground, The Moths' sound is sometimes
aggressive and at other times tempered and melodic.

Moths blaze a trail similar to the long lamented
Pixies and the ragged glory of Dinosaur Jr. with a
driving jagged-edged guitar attack that never seems to
run out of fresh ideas. The key to their charisma is
the band's rollercoaster use of dynamics, which rise
and fall as if they were in a live performance before
a packed house.' Amplifier Magazine

The Moths home base runs between the Lower East Side of Manhattan and the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

Lepid Opera is their second full length CD. For this album, the boys went back to the green garage in Garfield, New jersey, produced it themselves with mixing help from Andy Halasz and Roger Peltzman.

Although their music runs the gamut from the opening roar of 'Walk into the Sun', the sardonic pop of 'Enthuiastic Loser', the haunted country of 'Holler', and the bittersweet finish of 'Sea Shanty', you'll find it's all good and hits you where you live.

Bright Sons - shine on!

Turning over a lost leaf, in amongst a park full of litter and smelly trash [aka: the musick biz] we find a small and wonderful aberration, - a band of brothers who are bright enough to write songs with (~gulp!~) *intelligence*!! -and also creative / determined enough to get off their loafer-sofas to sing about some things usefully, thoughtfully, melodically, inventively which might help to make a difference in this wacky-run world. Moths and flutter-byes, insects we all are on this craggy, sometimes shabby little orb-planet, but hey, -better a butterfly be / bee... than an errant gutter spider only out for spite and wrecking the good things. Long live Moths, and all who sail like her… Listen and buy; then wave bye-bye to garbage can pop-rot, hipcraprap and other malefactions.

If you are looking for a band that can rock like The Foo fighters, with lyrics smart like Pavement, and still see live in a small club, check out the Moths. Click on a song right now.
