A Moroccan oud player and American keyboardist met in Philadelphia in 2003. One year later, these two musicians, friends at this point, decide to form a music collaboration incorporating both of their cultures and interests. M'Oud swing is the result. Incorporating some of the best jazz and Arabic-American musicians from Casablanca to Philadelphia, this Cd promises to deliver music totally new to the senses; Moroccan Sufi music, Spanish flamenco rhythms, tango, Egyptian meters, all bound together with jazz improvisation by some talented musicians!

Good News

I didn't know the know anyting aboute M'Oud Swing, when I saw the name and title on CD-BABY. I got the chance to listen shortly to some of the tracks: Oh God, this is great! Maybe the music is not new, but it's not offen heard here in my country Denmark. We all know the big names from pop and rock, from the classic scene - and the big names from jazz. Mostly the american jazz as it's played in Ney York. Nice and good. But then you get the chance to listen to music - and jazzmusic - with other "roots". Lovely to listen to jazz - whatever it is - withe roots in swedish folktone, with easteuropean jewish beat - and now with M'Oud Swing withe morroccan roots.
It makes the World bigger - and better - to learn this group beautiful-sounded northafrican-american group. The music is vividly and makes one - at least Me - glad. Can't sit calm.
I tried it with som of my good musicfriends: They liked it as well. I tried withe som other - (not music) friends - and the were also very found of the rythm and ongoing energy.
My next hope is once to see and hear M'Oud Swing in a concert. Here and now i'm just glad that I got the cd: Modal Citizens.
