Album Notes

L.A.-based musician extraordinaire Arthur Mountaniol is known for his visionary style, multi-voiced throat singing, innovative guitar work and ability of doing it all by himself.

The founder of the Russian prog/psych rock band The Moon Pierrot,Mountaniol is a prolific production machine producing 15 solo albums in just eight years.

"Alien in LA" is Arthur's short comeback to his hard rock roots. The songs on this CD were written at different times and places like Moscow,Hamburg and LA.They were planned to be a follow-up to his first solo album "5 Song Debut"(1998),but were dropped because he felt like going away from the traditional rock sound to some unknown and unexplored mazes of his own vision to make albums such as "Shamania" and "Master of Ecstasy".

This CD reveals the artist's plain songwriting, guitar and vocal talents accessible for the general rock audience.Although it offers much more than just a regular hard rock thing,it has unusual stylistic twists such as Brazilian samba,rockabilly,jazz,trumpet-sounding samples, atonal guitar licks,odd-time signitures and and a deeper emotional content.

The lyrics' themes are generally about a struggling artist in L.A. going through all the deceits and illusions of the City of Angels and his imaginary world that he creates in his mind to escape from the harsh reality.

Listen to "Alien in LA" in its entirety and you'll see for yourself how great it is.

Cutting Edge Guitar!
author: Jammie Armstrong
I'm a lead guitar freak. When I hear guitar playing of this caliber, nothing else matters to me.It's a great album - intelligent and really stands out of the crowd.

One-man hard rock with a twist.
author: Nancy Bolan
It's a low budget wet sounding recording, but if you're able to cut through that, you'll find so much creativity here,it would definitely make it worth listening. Also amazing - it was all done by only one person.Great songs and guitar work.Lyrics are somewhat strange, but intriguing.Vocals could sound just excellent,if recorded better. All in all - creative, masterful and quite original.

Impressive
author: Hugo Dinkum
I really was impressed with this album.Unfortunately it\'s only available now as digital downloads on iTunes and other stores.I\'d like to have a real CD. All in all - very creative work and more accessible than previous albums by this artist.A lot of great guitar work, good vocals and melodies.Yet,there are some weird stuff also, songs like Psycho with a jazz dirty-sounding guitar and disgusting vocals.Great album, highly recommended.
