Album Notes

Formerly SUPERCRUSH, Movie Star Kiss picks up where Supercrush left off. One of Supercrush's biggest accomplishments was a spot on 2004's Pointfest, St. Louis' annual all day music festival featuring the hottest rock bands of today. Supercrush played before thousands of fans that were there to see bands such as Lit, Sugarcult, Story of the Year, Papa Roach, Von Bondies, and Breaking Benjamin. This was also one of the last shows played under the name Supercrush.

Along with the name change came the addition of a new rhythm section. Joining core Supercrush members Ronnie Day and Ryan Michael are drummer Bill Wheeler and bassist Derek Bayer. Not only have Bill and Derek played together with some of the most popular St. Louis bands such as Tripstar and The Adored, but also play together in Eero. With what could arguably be the best rhythm section in St. Louis, Movie Star Kiss continues to perform the same guitar-driven songs that defined Supercrush, along with some freshly written material.

This St. Louis rock band has often been compared to such acts as Jimmy Eat World, Weezer, and the Foo Fighters. Christina Saraceno from RollingStone.com said, "Supercrush keep it simple, building on everything you like about emo...saving all its fury for the guitar rock heavy, sing-along chorus." With one full length CD under their belt and another currently underway, Movie Star Kiss not only delivers the goods in the studio, but in their live show as well. "Supercrush put on a true rock show...," said Laura Hamlett of Playback St. Louis.

Supercrush was formed in 1998 and after only a few months together the band was playing a regular schedule of live shows, recorded a 2-song demo, and soon developed a following. In July 2001, Supercrush was named as an alternate for The American Music Awards(r) Presents The Coca-Cola New Music Award Competition. Supercrush's song "The Real You" enjoyed a 3-week reign as champion of WVRV's (101.1 FM) The River's Home Grown Challenge, was named the Home Grown Artist of the month, and has been The River's Home Grown Featured Artist on several occasions. The song "Weekend Friend" was the winner of WVRV's Musical Court, a segment where listeners call in and vote whether they like the song or not. The same song was featured on XM Unsigned Satellite Radio's most played list for the month of July. Another song, "See You", enjoyed steady airtime on KNSX, 93.3 FM.

Today, Movie Star Kiss is focused on writing new material for their upcoming CD and will continue to perform on a regular basis. WVRV 101.1FM The River and KPNT 105.7 The Point in St. Louis are currently airing "Getaway" and "Alicia", two songs that will be featured on Movie Star Kiss's upcoming CD.

Movie Star Kiss is guitar driven with captivating choruses and a bit of emo. Their sound is a blend of classic and modern rock with comparisons to the Foo Fighters and Weezer. Their latest ten-track CD is full of energy and excitement. The album opens strong with "Getaway" a catchy yet edgy tune and is followed by "Let It Ride" which flows on a driving beat, fast guitars and snappy chorus. The CD continues to build momentum to the climatic closer "Starting Over". Movie Star Kiss is a diverse, dramatic band and Starting Over is a fresh new start for the former Supercrush (band).
