ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Although the identity of The Mower Men remains a mystery, the music, Mower Music, is being listened to and appreciated worldwide. Who are these guys? Does it matter? To mow is to know.

Songwriter, Wayne Phillips, had taken songs to Nashville before. "But, when they heard my lawn mower racing songs, that was it. I was asked to sign a Hardly Trying Music publishing agreement."

Doug Carman mentions influences on the project like The Ventures, Dick Dale, The Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, or even the vocal styling of doo-wop. "This was done as a bit of a tribute to the car racing and surfing music that was popular in the 60's. Of course, it's also a salute to the men and women involved in the great sport of lawn mower racing. These are real songs about real people who load up their lawn mowers and drive all over the country to compete in races."

Here are a few early reviews:

"It's the best darn music I've heard since the last Britney Spears album." USLMRA President, Bruce Kaufman

"It's the definitive musical work on the sport of lawn mower racing--It's also the only musical work on lawn mower racing." USLMRA Racing Commissioner, Ken Jones

Cool CD wish it had more songs on it
The CD was pretty much what I expected I play guitar myself and I like music that is hard to find or from local artists I'll order the other CDs later But also I was very happy with the service I received from CDBaby and I will be ordering from them again and tell my friends about them

Great fun that didn't last long enough
Music to race lawnmowers by is one of the few things more odd than racing lawnmowers themselves, however there is such a thing and a sport that cannot take itself too seriously has some wonderfully cracked music that doesn't as well. With a sort of beach / surf sound, this album is a fun glance into the world of lawnmower racing. My only gripe is the relatively few songs on the album. Good music, good humor, but, like the lawn, make it a little longer next time.
