Album Notes

My formative years were spent with my family making music, purely for the fun of it. Our family band began in the mid 1970's, performing at retirement homes, Women's Institutes, over 60's and the like. By 1980 we had a room in our farmhouse full of traditional instruments that we had managed to somewhat master.
These recordings mix a little folk (my Mother Jacqui's favourite) with traditional jazz (my Father Derek's favourite), George Formby and Bluegrass (my speciality) and Contempory Folk (my sister Hayley's taste) and out of it came this unique mix of home grown music. It is niether perfect, professional or clever- it is just , earthy heart-felt music.
Our farmhouse used to have regular music sessions where everyone would be invited and involved in some way. My Mother's song "Nannie's on a tambourine, Grandad's on a drum" sets the scene for these evenings.
From these days both I and my sister benfited and both of us became professional musicians and had open ears to different folk and country musicians that lived near to West Walton, the village we called home. My mother still sings occasionaly, Hayley is like me a pro. musician and my Dad passed away a few years ago. We never wanted to do anything "big" with our family band, but did end up on stage in front of 5000 country Music fans at the Peterborough Festival of Country Music and was broadcast over East Anglian television.
I hope you enjoy the rustic flavour of this, our first and only recordings from 1980 as The Moyses Family Band.
