Michael Patrick has shared the stage with many national acts including Rosanne Cash, Marty Stuart, Billy Joe Shaver, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Outlaws, David Allan Coe, Gary Allan, Chris Knight and Justin Townes Earle, to name just a few.
He founded and fronts East Coast regional bands, "The Suburban Hillbillies" and Johnny Cash Tribute Band "Ring of Fire."
It has been 4 years since Michael’s last release, “Roots and Branches.” This new CD, “Something to Fall Back On” furnishes a more authentic and “under-produced” sound. This is exactly what Michael was aiming for!
Title Track “Something to Fall Back On” is a tale about growing up with big musical dreams, and the unfortunate realities that can stand in the way. For example, mom tells you to take your books and study, instead of playing that guitar, because you might not become a star. Hence, you'll need to have something to fall back on, when life doesn’t go according to plan. The song marks Michael’s first collaboration with notable local writer Joe Iantosca.
Another storytelling track is, “Cash in the Attic.” A song Michael penned about discovering the music of his idol, Johnny Cash. Michael was fortunate enough to be able to perform this song this past October for some members of the Cash family. Needless to say, it met their approval. Other uniquely orchestrated and original offerings include the tongue-in-cheek love song written to Michael’s first car, a ’74 Dodge Dart!
Those songs, combined with Michael’s own takes on a few Traditional Country and Folk standards, makes for a well-rounded, diverse and enjoyable listen. A CD rooted deep in the soul of the Country, Folk, Bluegrass and even Gospel genres.

This is the sounds of country music I grew up on. The appalachian folk, rootsy traditional, and grassy sounds complimented by some TX swing here and there that make you wanna take a long drive on the backroads and escape your troubles for a little while as you listen to the 45 minutes that comprise this little gem! Heck, even my young nephews thats are way too cool for country are diggin it and singin along.

Nice Collection
author: NJ Fan #27842339
I picked up Michael Patrick's new CD at a recent gig. It's a great collection of both originals and classic and modern covers. Michael's originals are both touching and funny, and sometimes both. He also brings a nice new perspective to the songs he covers, mostly due to the choice of bare bones instrumentation and fine playing. It feels like it's a bunch of friends sitting around jamming. Go ahead have a seat and listen.

An homage to Country Music's Legacy
author: NJCountryFan
I picked up this CD at a recent release show in NJ, and the first time I listened to it all the way through I thought to myself, "Wow! I really get it!" Michael Patrick's vision is an homage to the sounds and styles that make Country Music, Country Music. This CD is fun, emotional and honest. It's also a "must have" for any self-respecting Country Music fan. It might be hard to believe a fella from Jersey can understand so much about the soul of the traditional sounds of the west and south, but take a listen and you will be a believer, too. I look forward to hearing more from this rising "Yankee" Country Star!
