Album Notes

Mike has worked for 30 some years in blues & rock bands, and as a solo and ensemble acoustic player. Quick's current groups, the Mighty Bullfrogs and the Billy Krause Trio have often been described as eclectic hipsters with a wide range of songs and styles. A similar description could be applied to "Down Bullfrog Road" with robust band cuts featuring New Orleans style clarinet and violin repartees as well as acoustic cuts with mandolin, dobro, and accordion. The songs range from foot tapping ragtime blues to songs that comment on credit cards, big, bizarre hairdoos and lyrical tunes about the passing of the railroads. A [powerful story about the great Midwest flood of 1993 as well as a ballad about what it might have been like to walk in his father's shoes, written uon finding a pair of his dad's old wingtips, years after his passing. There is fun and contemplative music for all ages and types of people on this recording and is worth having in anyone's cd collection.
