notes

Mr. Jack Daniel's Original Silver Cornet Band is a re-creation of an actual small town band (Lynchburg, Tenn. Pop. 361) at the turn of the century. It was back in 1892 that Mr. Jack Daniel decided his hometown needed a band. After all, neighboring Tullahoma had one. So he hustled out and bought a bunch of horns. Cornets, altoes, tenor, baritone, bass. And a drum or two. And some music. Then, as the story goes, he just handed them around town and sat back waiting for the music to commence.

Audiences of every age are charmed by this friendly bunch of costumed characters from 1905. They chuckle with the crusty "Perfessor." They cheer the dazzling musicianship and impeccable taste of these artists making "silver cornet history." Their experience and credentials are formidable. The music they make speaks for itself. If this is your first exposure to Mr. Jack Daniel's Original Silver Cornet Band, we envy you the experience.

Our latest offering,"Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit", is a collection of hymns and spirituals from our Lynchburg Sunday set. We hope you will enjoy it.

  • Good album of traditional hymns!

I was looking for a vocal rendition of "Fifty Miles of Elbow Room" and I found it with room and songs to spare. I had heard this band at a number of jazz festivals, but this was the first time I heard them do the old time hymns. I really enjoyed the album and I hope they make another one of traditional hymns.

  • good, cheerful music when you feel in something of a religious mood--
  • I have all their CD's. This one is great, too!
