One man ... in search for a new life ...
author: Victus Aeternus
In his second album, Mr.Jason tries to tell you a story about a man who has to go through a series of adventures to reach his ultimate goal to start a new life.
And I think this composer did a very well job.
In comparison with his first album 'East End', this one has a little bit more rhythm.
Gravity Fields, which I think is the best song on this album, even has a beat in it. And reminds me a bit of my adventures I got in Half Life 2 ;)
It's actually this song that really brings in the mood into the adventure of the man with a cut-out shadow.
The continuing song 'Highland' makes you realize that the road to a new life isn't as safe as you first thought. With soft and slow but dark pulses the composer tries to create these feelings, and succeeds too.
As in the first album the songs are composed with a set of synthesizers. So the style remains the same.
Preferably I listen to this cd while cleaning up my house, it makes annoying things a bit more agreeable.
An applause for this composer on his great job well done!
And may he continue his fine work in the future ...

Interesting mix of fragments and landscapes
author: Urban Nomad
When I bought this CD, I didn't know exactly what to expect: Man with a Cut-Out Shadow, what can this riddle possibly mean? What my ears found was visual kind of music with strong minimalistic flavour. Rich poetic material moving from mood to another: ominous, mysterious, delightful.
The texture of sounds associates and made visible to my mind the Tokyo map and an emphatic stranger trying to find his way with help of it through the maze of various quarters of metropol. Witnessing along the way strange rituals, restless crowds and traffic jam and founding by chance solace in secret Zen garden in the middle of skyscrapers. Full picture of life, from hectic neon light life of the night to the soothing sounds of the mother sea. Being without shadow might mean, that when leaving the old behind, you can see (hear) the world fresh.
Thank you Mr. Jason for this interesting mix of fragments and landscapes.
