Houston TX had a problem and his name is Marcus Shepard. Born and raised in Acres Home, a 9 square mile community in northwest Houston; Marcus’s story is one of triumph over circumstances.
In an effort to seek a better life; at age 14 he left home to dwell on the rugged streets of H-town. From sleeping on park benches, to sleeping in apartment lounges, he did what was necessary to survive. At age 17, the fast life caught up with him. He served a year term for possession of a controlled substance. Under normal circumstances, that would’ve been enough to break the spirits of any young man…not Marcus Shepard. What changed his life was a statement made by the police guard on the day of his release, “You’ll be back.” 3 words changed the course of his life forever! This was the beginning of a ferocious, insatiable appetite for a better outcome than the one he’d created for himself up to that point.
