Love In Kindness, the latest album from mike mrowicki, (his third ), started as a solo project with some songs written in Nerissa Nields songwriting class.
The muse had other ideas, though.
The album then grew into a community music project involving the wealth of musical talent in his hometown of Putney,Vt.
With, Love in Kindness, mrowicki again mines the veins of the spirit of the muse, to listen and play what has percolated through his experience. It all comes out through his guitar and voice-and those of the varied collaborators.
Contributors on this recording project include Amelia Struthers(vocals, harmony arrangements), Derrik Jordan (conga), Lisa McCormick (vocals),), Eric Lawrence (flute), Walter Slowinski (clarinet). Mark Trichka(mandolin) and Lisa Brande (fiddle), Jay Cook (bass), Johnny Yuma (drums), Sabine Rhyne (cello, bass),Tom La Bella(sax) Sue Dennison (djembe) recorded by Steve Whitman and mixed by Julian McBrowne.
Dancing with the dilemmas sprouting from the desire to make art while making a living, mike's influences evolve rhythmically, melodically, and lyrically into his original compositions.
With this album, the musical dynamic expands exponentially -and the songs come alive with an ebullient spirit that celebrates all that life and music can offer.
While making a home and starting a family in Putney, Vermont from NJ roots (Jersey City, Neptune) music has always lived large in mike's life... he's always sought to represent the musical mosaic that is folk with finger-picked guitar and voice with influences ranging from the Delta of Venus to the Mississippi Delta.
...now with children growing into their own lives, the music finds a more prominent place...and is a continuing catalyst to learn, enjoy, and share...
