Pete Buchwald has been a musician, arranger, and songwriter for 20 years. As he began to have a family and was exposed to the world of contemporary children’s music, he heard things that were good, and some things that made him want to strangle the artist, or at least hurl the CD into the trash can.
Pete’s songs are catchy and though designed lyrically for children, the music is such that a parent can enjoy the songs as well. Pete received a degree in jazz composition from the prestigious University of North Texas, and took some of his classes at Berklee College of Music. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Recording Arts at the University of Colorado.
Pete first got into children’s music when his roommate from college got a position reviewing submissions for a children’s publisher. He began submitting his music, and though none of the music was chosen for the work of the company, Pete found he enjoyed the craft of writing children’s music.
Pete worked as a music director for a children’s camp in Texas for two summers.
Later, Pete was recruited by animator Bear Cahill to help write and record music for the award winning Booples children’s videos.
Pete currently lives in Colorado with his wife and two daughters. In addition to music, he enjoys flyfishing, camping, hiking, reading, cooking (and consequent eating!).
