Mr Romo's 4th full length release Beats demonstrates his clever style of mixing beat poetry and spoken word to jazzy trip hop beats. Beats has an acid lounge flare with a touch of turntablism. This 65 minute set (18 tracks) is a definite listening experience.
DJ Mr Romo started out spinning 15 years ago. Mr Romo was, at first, a side project of Radio Personality Josh Beastie, and is now featured in Portlands beat driven music show; Mr Romo's Underground, on radio 1450am KPSU.

Romo is working with several musicians and artists on both fusion and improvisational projects. "I love making music", Romo states.
Mr Romo's unique sound covers the complete musical spectrum everything from jazz, deep down tempo, country to house, world, Hip-hop, and rock.
However, when asked the question "what style are you" in a recent interview, Mr Romo replied, "An electronic musician who conforms to the unwritten rules of IDM". Romo continues "I'm a turntablist of sorts, and feel creating new music from snips of old is a true artform".

Contemplative Beats On Ice
author: Randinator-XThis CD is a great listen, both for sitting alone intently, and for low-volume background music. Ideally, the production could be improved (with a bigger budget) to provide greater clarity of the spoken word portions under the music, but it nevertheless remains a solid effort replete with clever compositions. Open your mind to the beats.
it's so different that I listen to this disc daily
author: DJ FiltronI picked up this disc at one of Mr Romo's shows, I didn't quite know what to expect but was blown away. I have never heard anything quite like this. Maybe its a new genere, maybe its just the Mr Romo sound. I just can't get enough of this disc.
