A Giant Leap Forward!
author: Jim Oleck
M & R Rush takes a giant leap forward with the new Alpha CD. To date,...it is their Sgt. Pepper. It is a mixture of R & B rock, classic rock, and a great accoustic track. The band is known for their power driven guitars,...dominate keyboards, and signature harmonies. All of these trademark characteristics are present on the rocker Hour of The Wolf. Breed of Kat and Hotter Than Hell are a couple blues rockers with catchy, clever hooks. Sometimes She Cries is the accoustic track that sounds like it could fit in on the Beatles White album. My new favorite, Working To Pay The Man, gives the band a new style,...a rough, edgy, mixture of Bon Jovi, Collective Soul, and Styx. This band has definatley paid their dues , survived the long run, and has come out on top in a tough , competive music industry. Alpha puts the exclamation point on a phenominal career by these six musicians.

A Mix of Bon Jovi / Giuffria / April Wine - Strong Production
author: Kaj Roth - Melodic Net
Chicago rockers M&R Rush has left the 70´s sounding pomp/AOR from their previous albums and tuned into a more 80´s AOR/classic rock sound on the new album "Alpha". It´s got a strong production no doubt and I do love their cover of Autograph´s "Turn up the radio", great choice. The first track "He´s a different breed of kat" bring thoughts to the Bon Jovi (New Jersey/Slippery when wet) era, the verse is cool. The song "The hour of the wolf" is really good and sounds like a mix of Giuffria and April Wine, This is a solid band and the new album is a safe buy if you dig their other stuff.
