Album Notes

Tamekia "Ms. Lady" Smith is a multi-talented poet that has electrified audiences with her captivating spoken word and motivational teaching abilities. Born and raised on the east side of Detroit, Michigan this 25-year-old entrepreneur speaks with a wisdom that truly exceeds her age. She graduated from the Detroit High School for the Fine and Performing Arts, where she majored in Vocal Music and Theater. Since then she has performed as well as written music, plays, and skits to display her love for her craft. Tamekia realized the gift of poetry through what was suppose to be a suicide letter. Ever since then she has pursued her purpose by telling her story through poetry. She recites her spoken word throughout Michigan at various poetry open mic, as well as the Masonic Temple, Cobo Hall, State Fair. Tamekia embraced the nickname "Ms. Lady" because she wanted to exemplify the true essences of style, class and integrity for younger women. She looks forward to sharing her poetry and story with the world to strengthen the mentality of people while encouraging them to live out their dreams against all odds.
