Album Notes

Formerly known as simply "lesliwood", headed by singer/songwriter/guitarist, Lesli Wood (aka Roxy), along with bassist, Matt Menovcik (aka Clark), guitarist Peg Wood (aka Violet) and drummer, Stephanie Hasselman (aka Bootsy), Ms. Led's music and live performances are energetic, passionate, and intense. Their music contains equal parts crunchy power-pop, punk rock energy, and singer/songwriter intimacy.

With a decidedly feminist message, Ms. Led has been referred to as a "must-see live show" opening up for such acts as The Gossip, Vendetta Red, and Carrie Akre. Their performances deliver the energy and raw emotion Ms. Led's audience has come to expect. Ms. Led's live performance has sparked notable excitement from fans and press alike. After performing at the First Annual Rockrgrl Conference in November, 2000, Ms. Led were selected to be featured in the upcoming conference documentary, "When Girls Attack." Ms. Led also appeared on New York label Solarmanite Records' compilation of Police covers with their 11 minute epic version of "King of Pain".

Their sophomore release, "Ms. Led" has garnered raves from the press, including being voted one of the Top 100 Albums of 2000 by Pandemonium magazine. Ms. Led have also received regular airplay on the West Coast and have charted on CMJ with a track from their first release, "That Night", as well as tracks from "Ms. Led". November 2001, Ms. Led's track, "This Is What We Get" was released on the second Home Alive compilation. "This Is What We Get" is the band's cry of outrage against political and religious self-righteousness. May, 2002, Ms. Led released a ep entitled "3 Songs Under The Boot". The ep showcased the progression of the band's sound into full-fledged pop-punk ear candy.

Through their music, Ms. Led examine what it is to be human, to make mistakes, feel love and anger and live passionately.

Best...Album...Ever

OK, I've gotten lucky with CDbaby in the past, but getting this album was like scoring with the prom queen. The songs ooze power and speed. The vocals are incredible, the bass and guitar go together like peanut butter and Jelly with the drums being the Wonderbread. Best female-led band I've heard since Sleater-Kinney (or maybe YYY's).

Hot riffs + Cool lyrics = One tasty album!

Though I wished the CD was longer, I can't deny this is now one of my new favorite albums. The guitar work is exquisite and the emotions in the lyrics give it an angsty protopunk feel with a touch of power pop. I must have MORE!!!

I listened to one of the songs and I thought to myself I should give this band a chance. And was I glad I did. Every song touched upon a different facet of life and offered it in a neat little package. I recommend for everyone to buy this cd and support these talented people.
