Album Notes

MARGARET HAS RETURNED TO WORKING IN THE CHICAGO AND MIDWEST AREA AFTER LIVING AND PERFORMING IN IRELAND.

This is Margaret Stewart's CD debut. A traditional jazz vocalist who sings in a style reminiscent of such greats as Peggy Lee and Rosemary Clooney, Margaret has a clear and sultry voice that blends the best of jazz with a touch of blues. The CD contains an electic combination of great songs that will appeal to people of all ages. She is backed by the superb playing of the well known industry musicians, Bobby Schiff (piano), Stew Miller (Bass) and Chuck Christiansen (Drums).

Margaret started her career in Chicago and has appeared at a variety of venues in the midwest. She spent several years living and performing in Ireland and the U.K.

Take a listen and add it to your collection. You won't be sorry. And if you like what you hear pass the word.

"The posh and omigosh Antiques and Garden Fair at the Chicago Botanic Garen, which ends Sunday is a smash. Charity diva Donna LaPietra, who was wowed by the boffo performance of jazz singer Margaret Stewart........." Michael Sneed's April 18, 2004 column in the Chicago Sun Times.

I ran out of Margaret's cds since I gave them all away to friends and carry them when I travel abroad! Everyone loves Margaret's beautiful delivery, choice of timeless songs, and also love the one contemporary song - Thunderstorm. We need more in this vein from Margaret!

Margaret Stewart and her jazz combo have put together a variety of songs from the American Popular Songbook to make a delightful and relaxing work for all ages. Margaret's voice is nice and calming. No scat, no huge improvisational leaps, just simple songs with simple (but great) interpretations. Commendable were all the musicians. Hope that Margaret will release more CDs in the future.
