Album Notes

Classifying herself as an "Acoustic Singer/Songwriter," Michelle's influences includes artists as divergent as Cheryl Wheeler, Cat Stevens, and Lucinda Williams, but her performances center round her own compositions, displaying both a prolific talent for song writing and an infectious love of music. Ten original songs of love, loss and learning to let go are featured on Michelle's debut cd, Whistling in the Dark. Released in May 2000, Whistling in the Dark was nominated for the Washington Area Music Association's "WAMMIE" award for "Best Debut Recording" of 2000. This marks Michelle's fourth WAMMIE nomination - her peers also nominated her for "Best New Artist" in 1998, and "Songwriter of the Year" as well as "Best Contemporary Folk Vocalist" for the year 2002. Michelle was also a finalist in The 18th Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest for her new song "Not That I'd Know".
