ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Ambience, intense lyrics, beautiful singing voices and basically anything that's mature, intelligent rock...Midi’s tight live show and their surprisingly professional-sounding EP make the band full of promise...the thing sounds clear, mature, and the songs are varied enough to showcase their budding and wide-ranging indie-rock talents."

-Fairfield County Weekly

"The band may be young, but even journalists will agree their sound is mature and focused. MTMD elaborately uses a plethora of instruments to produce talented and structured music at its most enjoyable form. "

-ghostcolors.blogspot.com

"It all adds up to a near epic listen, the baby steps of a group that have the potential to go the whole way."

-mp3hugger.com

Midi & the Modern Dance began just twelve short months ago in the basement of guitarist Mikey McGovern. In the time since, Midi has proven themselves to be a key player in the nascent Connecticut indie music scene. After the breakup of his former band Alter Ego, which also consisted of guitarist Sam Abelow, vocalist Omeed Goodarzi sought to form what was originally slated to be an electronica side project with McGovern. The pair recruited drummer Jack Aldrich and bassist Akbar Mirza from another local band, and Abelow later completed the lineup. The band quickly began playing frequently together, and their sound continued to develop from ambient post-rock to their current, dynamic indie rock. With influences that range from baroque pop to avant-garde jazz, Midi has brought their music out of New England to a wide audience across the country that has picked up on the band from word of mouth and their impressive internet presence. The band has played everywhere from Sag Harbor, Long Island to locally in Fairfield, Connecticut, at a rib eating contest sponsored by the International Federation of Competitive Eating that consisted of the "sport's" world champions. Sweet. In late 2007 violinist Tyler Karmen and multi-instrumentalist Adam Levison joined the band as official members. Midi & the Modern Dance is currently working on their first full-length LP, due out this spring, and continuing to play shows.
