Album Notes

In mid 2003, Mule Train was formed to deliver a swift kick in the ass to the staid alt-country scene. Incorporating the energy and aggressiveness of punk and independent rock with the timeless melodies of their honky tonk heroes, Mule Train delivers a seamless blend of original music that avoids the formulaic sound of modern punk and the easy-listening complacency of alt-country. Paul M. Davis (vocals, guitar,) Kevin Rainsberry (drums,) and Esteban Perez (bass) draw from influences ranging from The Misfits to Jerry Irby to create a unique sound that is reminiscent of many but never cliche.

"This three piece from Santa Cruz, California has been gaining quite a following and for good reason: Mule Train is one of the best folk-punk bands in recent history."
-Zero Magazine

"This trio seems to have successfully created a sound they can truly call their own. The overall effect is a down-home rhythm tempered with well-versed lyrics...the more we hear from this band, the better we'll all be."
- Good Times Santa Cruz

"For Mule Train, it's clear: if a group claims both Hank Williams Sr. and the Misfits as strong influences, it's a country-punk band, plain and simple. The Santa Cruz trio is just as much dirt road as spiky hair, as much cornfed as it is pissed off." - S.F. Weekly

"Fusing together its unique blend of timeless country melodies, animated beats and noirish lyrics, this gripping folk-punk trio manages to do-si-do its way around its punk rock superego...seething with down-home aggression, Mule Train's twangy music demands instant affirmation."
-Metro Santa Cruz

"Cool, fuzzy, twangy cow punk...two step rockabilly beats and edgy vocals. Good time whiskey punk I say!"
- Punk Planet #66
