What's So Funny? is the follow-up to Mudcat Jones' debut release Too Happy.
It hits stores on Tuesday, April 25th.
For this new project, the band joined forces with producer Jeff Juliano (Dave Matthews, SEV, Agents of Good Roots) and acclaimed mixer Paul David Hager (Shawn Mullins, Bare Jr., Tracey Bonham, Letters to Cleo).
What's So Funny? is being released on Screaming Goddess Records and distributed nationally through Redeye Distribution and Valley Media.
The seven songs on the new album demonstrate that Mudcat Jones has developed their own signature sound at the vortex where modern musical styles meet.
The songs are infectiously catchy, sexy, and uplifting, all conveyed through the band's hypnotic bass lines, explosive guitars, melodic horn parts and strong, engaging vocals.
To take the music a step beyond the typical pop ground the band also added Moog noise, drum loops and samples to their sonic repertoire for the record.
As Daryll Ganz states "For the past three years we've been working on our live show... Then we changed our focus to making a great studio album. With Jeff and Paul's help we accomplished that."

Mudcat Tops "Too Happy"

"The band has increased its sound quality drastically...these seven songs resound with richness. The thumping bass drum that opens "No Shadow" leads into a film-noirish song, while the snaky bass line and trumpet bleats on "Lady Marie" are undeniably sexy." - Richmond Times Dispatch
