Album Notes

2002 BIRMINGHAM AREA MUSIC AWARDS RECIPIENT
"BEST BLUES"
"BEST MALE VOCALS"

With a name like MuddyKing on the marquee, you might expect to see an old bluesman on stage. But Muddy's "old soul" paired with seasoned road experience makes for an interesting show. The band consists of Muddy King on guitar, organ and vocals, with L. Richard Albright, a.k.a. "Boom Boom," on bass and backing vocals. On drums is Philip Johnson.

Muddy and Rich have developed a Lennon/McCartney sensibility with their song writing, each harmony complementing the other's style. In the trio format every note, whether vocal or instrumental, makes all the difference. The sound is hard to label, always keeping one foot in the blues, but stretching out to jazz, reggae and even 60s British invasion pop. MuddyKing recently won big at the 2002 Birmingham Area Music Awards (BAMAs), taking home top honors for "Best Blues" and "Best Male Vocalist."

MuddyKing's fans can expect a great show. From Muddy's duck walks and solos played behind his head to flaming guitars, fans have grown accustomed to exciting live performances. Muddy even sparkles organ into the mix while still playing his guitar.

Their first album, Bogalusa, was produced at MixMasters Studios in Cullman, Ala., and released in May 2000. Singles from the album, including "A Woman," "Stop Breakin' Down" and "Excuse Me" have received national and international radio airplay.

A Zest and Spirit That Will Get You Up and Moving
author: WUSC 90.5 FM Columbia, South Carolina
How can you not admire a band named MuddyKing? Upbeat blues based rock keeps fans on their feet at gigs, and the band captures a live performance sound in their premier CD, which, incidentally, features some of the coolest graphics in years! Reverberating with the verve of youth, this CD pays homage to the artists the band admires, from the overt tribute to Muddy Waters and the Three Kings, to more subdued riffs that drift you back to early rockers and fellow blues devotees like the Allman Brothers. Fusing influences and originality into a new sound is nothing new these days, but MuddyKing does it with a zest and spirit that will get you up and moving!

The BEST Album I've Purchased in Years!
author: Aaron
Bogalusa is a CD that you listen to once and you cannot stop. From Muddy King's rockin' rendition of Robert Johnson's "Stop Breakin' Down" to originals "Excuse Me," "A Woman," and beyond, these guys know how to bring it and they do! I only hope the guys will produce another album so I can hear more. GREAT cover artwork sets the tone for a rockin' good time on this HIGHLY recommended album.
