Album Notes

The Muddy Marsh Ramblers are a four piece, all acoustic band from Portland, Maine USA. Playing traditional and their own original bluegrass, they also incorporate old time Celtic reels and jigs into their repitoire. Utilizing a highly animated, single-microphone stage show, the Ramblers' originals have been getting considerable air-play throughout New England.

Featured on this CD is the songwriting talent of Scott Conley. He has written timeless songs and instrumentals. Two of his songs were recorded in 2001 with the late great Bill Sage on fiddle. Bill Sage was a Bluegrass Boy with Bill Monroe in the 1960's and a Del McCoury Dixie Pal in the early 1970's. This CD is dedicated to his memory.

Scott Conley is also a guitar builder and a full-time Luthier, building custom made stringed instruments out of his home in Bowdoinham, Maine. Scott and Craig Hensley play their Conley guitars on this CD. Conley guitars are currently for sale at Buckdancer's Choice Music Co. in Portland, Maine or by visiting his website at www.conleyguitars.com

Shawn Davis on mandolin grew up on the banks of the Scarborough Marsh in Scarborough, Maine and is a founding member of the band. Eric Pariseau on banjo and Rebecca Boothby Conley on upright bass complete the ‘Rambler sound.

Great album! Heard the Muddy Marsh Ramblers’ disc at a friend’s house, and liked it enough to buy it for myself. Had thought I was listening to a talented group, performing classic bluegrass songs. I was pleasantly shocked to learn that most of the tunes, including the catchiest ones, were originals. Also enjoyed their collaboration with Bill Sage. Good, honest, wholesome music. Pure Americana. I’d be surprised if there is anyone who couldn’t find something to like on this CD. Bluegrass music fans will love the whole thing. I sure do!
