Album Notes
The excerpts that you hear are only the beginning of each track and are a basic representation of my music. For a full listening of 'Mukti's' music, go to my website and click on audio to listen to the entire track.

I formed this group because I had a keen interest playing indian music.
I composed all the tunes on this CD for particular players. For example 'Wandering Spirit' was composed for my cellist friend Mel Robinson.

Mukti is a group that mixes modal Jazz, western classical and north Indian music. The group consists of Mel Robinson (cello), Vicky Ramakrishnan (tabla), Joshua Hogan (vibes percussion udu pot ), and Glenn Rogers (guitar). The music of ‘Mukti’ involves lots of improvisation, trading and interplay between the players, it is full of intricate cross rhythms, complex arrangments and beautiful melodies and unusual indian scales. It is a blend of modal jazz and both north and south indian music. Although there is only 6 tracks on this CD they are quite long the CD is just under an hour in lengh.

I use a fretless guitar on the begining of 'Jog' go to my website to listen to the entire audio. The fretless guitar is a very expressive instrument almost like the human voice. It is played with the tip on the finger nails and is very difficult to play. There is a video clip of Mukti and four other CDs which are available on my website just go to 'Audio/ CD'

I hope you enjoy this CD as much as we enjoyed playing it.
