ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is classic poetry set to music. Sung, not spoken. The poems are surrounded by a rich combination of acoustic instruments- guitar, mandolin, pump organ, violin, acoustic bass and a host of other odds and ends. The poets include Blake, Auden, Stevens, cummings, Hughes and others including one translation of a traditional pygmy chant. The whole recording is on the dark, serious side of the spectrum - the emphasis is on beauty and remaining true to the poet's intent.

Mulhollan has long been a member of the folk duo 'Still on the Hill' which has developed a solid national following over the last 10 years. While there are traces of a folk element on this CD, it is altogether different from the previous Still on the Hill offerings. This body of work is 'banjo free'. Here, Mulhollan stretches his creative, musical wings in new directions, wrapping every detail and innuendo of the poet's words into songs that lift the words from the page and allow them to fly.

Jonathan Byrd

one of my favorites
On the road, I'm always trading CDs with other musicians I meet and picking up things from friends. This one shocked me with how good it was. It's a classic- beautiful production, brilliant arrangements, impeccable performances. I rank it next to Dark Side of the Moon and Kind of Blue as a perfect album. Never Ending Conversation ends up in the stack next to the CD player most of the time.

Haunting
This is my favorite CD of all time. It is my inner soundtrack! I've played it over and over and it continues to haunt me, giving expression to something inside of me that hasn't found a way out before. Incredible!!

Heather Karstens

Very Romantic. Sexy voice.
I loved the whole CD but I especially liked the one that you wrote the lyrics to. The whole thing has a slight scottish flavor which I'm really into right now.

Stunning, gorgeous, moving, remarkable and intimate
One of the finest records I have heard and a song-cycle unlike any other. Filled with beautiful moments, the singing and playing are delicious to the ears, lobes and all and thoughtful to the core. The perfect CD to give to anyone with a love of words and poems, the perfect way to stop the world and reach and touch the deeper mystery. A collection like this is a rare celebration and a must for poethearts everywhere.

Incredible, I've turned two poets on to the CD. Great Feed back.
The two poets I have turned on to this CD like it as much as I do. One responded via email to me..."Just wanted to THANK YOU for the awesome cd! its really a great one, I've been listening to it all day long." And this was from a published poet. I think this CD is going places.

Lovely woody plunking and breathy organ, tender warm voices and sweet fiddle. In this setting the lovingly chosen poems come alive, refreshed. The sort of record you can play over and over, as I've been doing ever since I got it. Gorgeous!
