notes
Like Willie Nelson before him, Mullen has been criticized for his "nondescript" vocals. Ha! Does that mean smooth, pure, and honest? OK... How refreshing, a singer who doesn't find it necessary to to perform vocal gymnastics to convey a simple country melody. He's a songwriter at heart, and with just one listen to "Your Memory Can't Drink As Much As Me", or "It's OK To Call Me Daddy", you'll quickly realize you've stumbled onto a diamond in a coal pile called "commercial country music".
Please tell your friends that real country music ain't dead, it's been resurrected in Texas!
