Album Notes

Mungo Park is a folk/pop duo based in NJ USA. They are named after the main charcter in T.C. Boyles novel "Water Music", also a real life 18th century Scottish explorer.
They are Bill Craig- guitar and vocals. And Ed Sikora- bass and background vocals.
They write and play listenable, catchy, sometimes perverse pop songs in a folky acoustic(for the most part, but also featuring some great keyboard work by famed keys-whiz Rave Tesar)format. This collection also features the mighty Mike Casey on drums and young guitar-upstart Alex Craig.
An outstanding example of their versatility and skewed world-view is the track "Jack Ruby's Twistboard", while "No Deeper Blue" recalls folk legend Tim Buckley.

REVIEWS

Outstanding intelligent pop
author: Tommy Kaye
This CD is an excellent example of what I call "Intelligent Pop". Not derivative, and not formulized. Lyrics that make you think, and catchy, hooky melodies. The spare, bass driven acoustic/unplugged instrumentation is a perfect matrix for the interesting musical ideas being put forth. For a taste of something different and fresh, check these guys out!
