Album Notes

A few quotes from Munk Duane on the creation of 'Everywhere is South of Somewhere'...

"What are the elements that create truly timeless music? I imagine this exploration is akin to the feeling The Rolling Stones had while creating Exile On Main Street or U2 with The Joshua Tree. I’m digging deep into Country and Americana tradition and attempting to marry those “nuggets” into the pop songwriting structure of 2011, much like Chet Atkins, Elvis and Buddy Holly did in the 50’s."

"Discovering Country music has been one of the best things to happen to me as a musician and a writer. The bar is just higher. I’ve had to step it up in every aspect. Making music feels new and exciting again. Attempting to put a finger-print on a genre with such deep tradition is ambitious and humbling."

"I recently dipped my toe in the waters of Nashville. The effect, of even brief exposure, has made me just plain better. I’ll be going back there on a regular basis to cleanse my musical soul."
