Munkey Juice is an independent outfit (they are Choose to Lose Records) that has been doing it on their own now for 10 years. MOSCOW is the band's seventh album. Lead by the Heise brothers, Munkey Juice reminds me of The Flaming Lips without all the production and strained voices, cool songs played well with neat instruments placed where needed and great pop ideas. The music is rock, raw, and ultra hip. MOSCOW is a double-disc, 24 songs and not one bad one in the bunch. All the Munkey Juice music, including MOSCOW, is available at www.munkeyjuice.net. Munkey Juice are American rock 'n' roll heroes. The lesson is that it can be done from your bedroom. Munkey Juice, I love you, and I love MOSCOW. I can not stop listening. Munkey Juice rule.

Formed by the Heise brothers in 1995, Munkey Juice is a rock band for the hard of hearing. God himself once said this of the Juice, "Rock never tasted so good". Munkey Juice has been through their fair share of drummers in the spirit of Spinal Tap. They have released eight full length albums, and four EP's. This is their double album Moscow which features the talents of Minneapolis rock band Roscoe. Nelson Heise takes care of most the singing, strumming, and the dictating in the band. Robert "Bubba" Heise does the slappin', tappin', and occasionally rappin'. Most importantly, Bubba is the looks and PR guy. Music From The Motion Picture Moscow is a two disk, twenty-four track epic about "heartbreak, revenge, hope, love and redemption". The two-dozen songs are a mix of melodic punk to more erratic, frenzied arrangements. The music is edgy and energized, exploring a range of tempos and textures. I found the second disk to be the stronger of the two with more cohesive songs but each CD has something interesting to offer. Munkey Juice has had a fruitful decade and their motion picture sound track culminates it with moody, hell-raising music!
