John Munnerlyn and Lee Jeffriess team up for a swingin’ set of original guitar instrumentals featuring standard guitar, steel guitar and fiddle. Inspired by country and jazz greats of the 40s & 50s, John and Lee’s music is bound to appeal to anyone who likes hot guitars and cool tunes.
John Munnerlyn has been playing American roots music for over 25 years. Last heard with The Haywoods, an authentic-style rockabilly outfit, John has expanded his guitar playing on this CD, incorporating elements of western swing, Travis picking and gypsy jazz.
Called a modern master of the non-pedal steel guitar, Lee Jeffriess made his mark with Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys. Over the course of seven acclaimed CDs with that group, Lee’s steel guitar work proved an exciting highlight of their jumpin’ sound.
Also featured on several tracks are fine fiddle players Brian Godchaux and Richard Chon, both known for their work with Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks.
So if you like your guitars country-style with a side helping of swing, grab a copy of Guitars in Perspective and see what‘s cookin’ with John and Lee.

A Keeper
author: Stompin’ Steve Hathaway
If you like the old country instrumental albums of Merle Travis, Jerry Byrd, or the Texas Troubadours then this CD is for you. This collection of all originals stands up to those of that classic period. Their writing chops are matched by their playing and the equally talented supporting players. I got great response from my radio listeners on “The Cupertino Barndance” on KKUP. I recommend this highly to guitar and steel guitar enthusiasts.
