"Strong As I Need To Be" is Murali's third CD for as many different labels. This time out, he has released his music on his own label (Murali's Music Records). Murali's soulful vocals and stunning guitar work have led previous reviewers to label Murali Coryell "The Future Of The Blues". I think that's unnecessarily pigeonholing an artist who is creating music that will appeal to many more listeners than just the Stevie Ray Vaughanabees. Completely enjoyable.

Where Rhythm and Blues meet classic rock of the 70's, this man has been a mainstay, making his mark in the Woodstock circle for years. With a voice and style as smooth and visceral as Sam Cooke and Al Green, and with a swaying style that suggests a touch of Otis Redding, Murali has crafted an album that is both a blessed trip back to the 70's as well as a welcome sound pushing through current trends. Rich in its American-grown roots, "Strong As I Need To Be" offers us a toast to the best in all of us.
