Album Notes

With two decades of making music together, bassist Max Murray & drummer Frank Russo have established themselves as one of Baltimore/DC's tightest rhythm sections. Their magical chemistry began in the mid 1980's while members of the prestigious US Navy Band. Since retiring from the military, they regularly lend their solid foundation to dozens of artists, and this jointly led collaboration is a celebration of their continued partnership.

On this release, they are joined by the phenomenally gifted pianist/composer Doug Bickel, whose credits include touring with Maynard Ferguson and Arturo Sandoval, and performances with Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Herman and Pat Metheny, to name a few. He currently teaches piano, advanced jazz theory, and composition at the University of Miami.

On trumpet is jazz veteran John D'earth, who has appeared on dozens of records, and film scores. His performances have taken him all over the globe with artists as diverse as Buddy Rich, Lionel Hampton, Miles Davis, Quincy Jones, Bruce Hornsby, Tito Puente, and Dave Matthews, and the list goes on & on...

Also contributing two original pieces to this project is the highly creative Maryland-based guitarist and prolific composer, Rob Levit.
