Playing in bands since 16 years old, Pete Murr performed with bands such as The Riffs, Hoven Tramps, The Tramps, Rockoco, Plum Loco, Steeletto, Elopium, Fair Warning and Frames. Born in mid-west Queensland, Australia, Pete started on piano at age six, and was drawn to guitar as prefered instrument aged 12. His family moved to Ipswich, and then finally settled on the sunny surf haven of the Gold Coast. With an 8 year older brother, he was being fed a diet of new music he now has to thank for his solid rock influences, such as Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Uriah Heep, to mention only some from that great era of exploding rock out of the 60’s, 70's and 80's. The energetic, vibrant surfing and scateboard scenes had Pete engrossed, fueling many creative outputs, including performing live in the Gold Coast and Brisbane pub venues. A highlight being support for Brian Manix and The Uncanny X Men in the band ‘Frames’.
Experiences include tours throughout Queensland in a computer based trio ‘The Xciters’ and five piece hard rock band ‘Fair Warning’, co-writing the original jingle for 'KIRRASURF' (a large surf wear and board outlet on the Gold Coast), with 'Tony Meehan' from 'Cliff Richard & The Shadows'. Tracks from his very 1st original guitar instrumental album 'Riffhanger' were used for surfing segments on 'Brownies Coastwatch' (a beach report T.V. show), and backing for Gold Coast Tourism Promotional Video. In 2003 an album with the duo 'Elopium', called 'Impaled' was offered a distribution deal in Texas U.S.A. Several songs were entered in song competitions to 'MakeAStar.com' and all advanced through with one making the quarter finals and another the semi finals
Pete is a life member of 'APRA' (Australian Performers Rights Association). Session guitar work and co-writing has given Pete advanced composing skills in Rock, Pop and other genres, though his tastes are broad. He has tutored for 'Hanlen's Music School' and also privately. Running in a successful Microsoft WINDOWS promotion with his song 'Camera Shy' from "Alien 8 Yourself' album, which was a collaboration with internationally acclaimed guitarists, spurred him with a flow of albums over the past several years. Owning a 'Creamware’ ‘Pulsar' based Project Studio added to his production capabilities and learning curve with the digital uprise. He records using 'Cakewalk SONAR' with a huge library of 'VST/VSTi' and 'DX/DXi' plugins, and is a big fan of 'ENGL' amplifiers and Strat based guitars, mainly 'Ibanez' and 'G&L' models. On the graphics side of things, art has always been an ongoing interest. Screenprinting for 'Wavelength' on the Gold Coast, he learned the ropes from the ground up and ventured out to start a small business designing Rock T-Shirts for 'The Record Market' in Surfers Paradise and designs for designer clothing shops such as 'Manifest', and 'Body and Soul'. Doing the artwork for Junior Baseball and Martial Arts on the Gold Coast was fun too! There were many other original designs his skills were called to task for. Logos and CD designs became a big part of his focus. Personal website design come into play as he was challenged to put his first website up for self promotion. Pete Murr is a freelance Songwriter / Producer / Lyricist / Guitarist / Graphic Artist who with a basic 'Certificate III' in IT, and over 30 years of industry experience, enthusiastically, claims music as his undying passion!
