Mush are bringing out a new album; the first with Lady Caroline Mary. She joins Sarah Van Jellie (Dogbeat / The Ground) and Nicky Rushton (All Because The Lady Loves) to create a new and distinctive sound that is captured on the forthcoming release, 'In The Evening', out in Oct '06.
The new record sews together gothic drums, cabaresque piano and histrionic vocals with jangling, mournful guitar and menacing basslines to make a beautiful nightgown worthy of any somnambulist's dash to the locked wing of a burning mansion. Popular with the mountainfolk of the Austrian Tyrol, Mush's performances are not to be missed (once the animals have been brought down from the slopes in expectation of the first winter snows).
Nicky's vivid and beguiling live performance is offset by Sarah's irreverent humour and glued back together again, by the flat-eared indifference of Lady C.
This band called Mush, however, is not the first group in which these talents have converged, as all three can be found indulging through the years in the subversive delights of the Camp Vamps - Newcastle's finest iconoclasts!
By daylight, Lady Caroline sells and eats popcorn and cinema tickets. Sarah Van Jellie spends her days extracting and licking her cute, pudgy fingers from her many maverick pies, whilst Nicky Rushton can be found reposing in sunlit rooms, with a stress incontinent dog called Heidi, masterminding the next Mush melodies to come...
