FROM MYRTLE BEACH, THE BEACH MUSIC CAPITAL...TO THE LEGENDARY SOUND OF NEW ORLEANS - MUSIC REIGNS!
The year was 1967, The Swinging Medallions were singing Double Shot Of My Baby's Love on Ocean Blvd, the Tams crooned to 'What Kind Of Fool Do You Think I Am' while the Drifters were taking it all in, Under The Boardwalk. It was all happening in Myrtle Beach South Carolina, THE #1 PLACE in the world for Beach Music...
Meanwhile "good times were rolling just strolling down in New Orleans", where Bourbon Street's 24 hour party time atmosphere and Louis Armstrong's Hello Dolly fame had both emerged into the national spotlight for reasons both good and bad, with the music being the good part!
Although both cultures remain world's apart musically, the blues, and the Mississippi Delta blues in particular, continued to be the strong binding connection. Pioneer's Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters helped create a common link not only between Myrtle Beach and New Orleans, but also to virtually every country abroad. Folks naturally love the blues...
The first two songs on this collection captures a very rare 1967 vintage Carolina sound, complete with a touch of famous beach music and some authentic southern-born Carolina blues guitar licks, 101.
The remaining songs have the distinct New Orleans sound from the same era, especially the powerful 'Cooking Down In New Orleans' a song that could have easily qualified as the official city theme in any given year...
...Also, COOKING DOWN IN NEW ORLEANS is the only vocal song on this album by Tom McKernan written by guitar by bluesman, Jordan Lee. The song is mixed with a New Orleans party-style flavor straight from the good old days of the mid to late 1960's...Myrtle Beach & New Orleans - Great food and greeat music...
Enjoy!
Having said as much as is needed, it's time to kick-back and enjoy some old-fashioned blues guitar sounds from another time zone, recorded and digitally mastered with 21st century technology. These recordings are produced by a notable group of prolific musicians & songwriters we simply call MUSIC, and hosted by a unique organization by the same name!
Enjoy!
