Album Notes

MusiM is the musical understakings of John Beauchamp. It was started in 2004 and continues presently. No two songs are alike with MusiM. From style to melodies to keys, it all changes in some form or another. While one song might be ambient noise another might be an energetic dance track while another might be a guitar heavy industrial song.

MusiM's influences range anywhere from the classic late 70's early 80's industrial pioneers to jazz artists such as Miles Davis and Charlie Parker to punk bands like Social Distortion and Black Flag. From metal to country to dance, MusiM wants to incorporate it all at some point.

Stories is just like the title implies, a story. It has been described as "old school industrial" many times. If you got into the industrial/goth scene because of bands off the record label "A Different Drum" then this album is not for you. Another reviewer commented that Stories was "incredibly dark" while another felt the story told was about "cannibals" and "an axe murderer". And finally, another commenter said "you make me want to go out and fight crime".

"Stories isn't for everyone. If you want to listen to something to make you sleep better at night then this is not for you. Stories is about certain aspects of human nature that we don't like to talk about."

REVIEWS

Prog ambient industrial
author: D Shusaku
Stories is certainly cinematic in nature. It could easily be a soundtrack for a film noir or even a classic gothic horror movie. Sounds seem to ebb and flow from one song to the next as they take the listener on a journey through the streets of musim's own design. While there may be some low points, the album is solid and tight. Each song seems to build upon the next with rising action until the climax and the fall. Superb. I would also recommend this album for fans of Pink Floyd and other progressive bands.

Stories is the best new thing I've heard in a long time.

I just heard Stories (and MusiM itself, for that matter) for the first time today, and I loved it! My advice = listen to Shadows, and that's all you'll need to decide for yourself that it's great. I was pleasantly surprised, and it's definitely worth the money.

Musim has crossed the abyss and taken us with him.
author: Jason Doherty
I first met Musim many years ago while looking for musicians to hang out with. My immediate first impression was that his was a music far removed from the plastic and mechanical reproductions that I heard all around me at the time, and which are still running rampant today. Over the years, Musim's sound hos evolved from its inial brilliance to a state of being that can only be described as prima magnificus. Trying to describe this music in words is like trying to describe the voice of God using hand puppets. You absolutely must give it a listen at least once. If you don't like what you hear, its not Musim's fault.
