Album Notes

Musiqua is an alias of Martin Söderberg from Sweden. On his songs that easily describes both reality and fantasy, he plays guitars, keyboards and sing.

After playing in rock and funk bands, and leading orchestras for high school and college stage plays, his solo-material takes a much more mellow note, utilizing the acoustic guitar and piano to create moving songs with lyrics that are unafraid to evoke feelings in the listener.

With the recording of Alpha, Musiqua called upon his musician friends to help him bring the best possible sound of his songs. The resulting 40 minutes are ranging from acoustic ballads to pop satire, always keeping the theme of the song in focus.

REVIEWS

An excellent first release!

This record has several strengths. The lyrics are catchy and at times poignant. You Fly Above Me is absolutely infectious and Plastique is great social commentary. The performances are solid and the arrangements just right. The rhythms are tight and the voicing very effective. I’ve been a fan of Musiqua’s work for a few years now and what first attracted me to it is his use of chords – conventional enough for a broad audience without being mundane. Alpha is just the beginning of what I hope will be a long and productive career, but it sounds as if it comes to us from a seasoned veteran. I highly recommend it.

When i first listed to the CD i was stunned, it's a great mix of diffrent styles, but you also here that it's the same guy. Many of the songs stick like glue after a while, can't get them out of my head, A duet for Two is one of them, and the lyrics is great, take Plastique for example, it's lyrics really says something about our time.
