REVIEWS

Recently had the opportunity to see and hear the Venusian live at an event in San Francisco. I enjoy this genre, but Matt Venuti and the Venusians took the music above and beyond what I expected to hear. Phenomenal. To see them perform live was a treat! It truly sounded as if there were twice as many musicians; the live music was extraordinarily tight and studio quality. I was so impressed with the Venusians that I had to purchase a CD on site: Dance of the Helix. 'Dance of the Helix' was a continuation of the phenomenon that is the Venusians. The music was extraordinarily beautiful, complex/simple and filled my right brain with joy and contentment! Excellent! I mentioned to Matt Venuti that I hoped his music could become part of the Pandora Music Project. It would allow the masses to enjoy the music of the Venusians!

Outta dis world!!!

This is a great CD! It utilizes my favorite new instrument (the Hang) in an ensemble situation unilike anything else out there. Very catchy, very sophisticated, great blend of World, Jazz, and Pop. Even without the Hang, the songs stand strong. More from Matt, please.

Energetic, Ambient Wide Open Air Music!
author: Randy Granger
Dance of the Helix definitely spirals through an entertaining range of musical expressions centered around the Hang drum by PANArt. Most listeners will be less concerned about the instruments used and moved more by the fun, energetic combination of organic and electronic sounds that are as refreshing as huddling from a summer cloudburst with friends in a hut on the beach in Aruba. The Hang drum sounds similar to a Steel Pan drum cuddled by ambient beats and accessible rhythms in the hands of this group. I loved the way enigmatic sounds started out with bird call and Island sounds then soon a modern drum groove set the mood. This is fantastic party or driving music when you want to be taken on an exotic journey and open the windows and dance in your mind. It reminds of me of the best of Enigma, Thomas Dolby, King Crimson with intelligent doses of Kitaro or Steve Roach. This is wide open air music that makes your toes move and you mouth smile. You won’t sit still when Dance of the Helix is in your player—and that’s a good thing. Randy Granger
