Energetic, Ambient Wide Open Air Music!
Dance of the Helix definitely spirals through an entertaining range of musical expressions centered around the Hang drum by PANArt. Most listeners will be less concerned about the instruments used and moved more by the fun, energetic combination of organic and electronic sounds that are as refreshing as huddling from a summer cloudburst with friends in a hut on the beach in Aruba. The Hang drum sounds similar to a Steel Pan drum cuddled by ambient beats and accessible rhythms in the hands of this group. I loved the way enigmatic sounds started out with bird call and Island sounds then soon a modern drum groove set the mood. This is fantastic party or driving music when you want to be taken on an exotic journey and open the windows and dance in your mind. It reminds of me of the best of Enigma, Thomas Dolby, King Crimson with intelligent doses of Kitaro or Steve Roach. This is wide open air music that makes your toes move and you mouth smile. You won’t sit still when Dance of the Helix is in your player—and that’s a good thing.

compelling trance-jazz
i found this CD when looking for a Hang drum. Matt V and Venutians use the Hang (hung-Switz.) brillantly. This Cd is a nice combo of trance and hip jazz. As a DJ I loved finding new expressions and blends.

An incredibly rich album, full of surprises and delights
This album is extraordinary for both the wide range of beautiful musical content, and the incredibly rich production with only a few well chosen instruments.

There are many subtle musical elements and feelings in this music that make you feel wonderful after listening to it. And unlike too many current album productions, Dance of the Helix can be heard again with real pleasure and enjoyment every time. My favorite track, has to be All Well at the end, a perfect finish to the album.

Hot new unusual harmonic sweet jam
If you like new and unusual sounds, beats, harmonies and rhythms, you'll love this album. The "Hang" drums from Switzerland that Matt plays have the best of steel drum softness without the harsh clanging of typical steel drums. He is a wizard at creating harmonic and unusual chord changes, rhythms and syncopations that run from jazzy to bluesy to big band to orchestral to rock to funk to... well, you get the idea. But always sweet, always warm (or hot). You can concentrate on the music and be amazed, or let it play in the background and notice that you're smiling, or tapping your feet. I'm always looking for that new sound that grabs me where I've never been grabbed, and this is one of those. A really, really, good CD that you'll prize - and play for your friends.

Another collection of great music from Matt Venuti.
I have enjoyed Matt Venuti's music for some time and was excited to get his latest CD - Dance of the Helix. It has a more relaxed quality than the Venusian's last album. The Hang adds a world music feel that I particularly like.

Recently had the opportunity to see and hear the Venusian live at an event in San Francisco. I enjoy this genre, but Matt Venuti and the Venusians took the music above and beyond what I expected to hear. Phenomenal. To see them perform live was a treat! It truly sounded as if there were twice as many musicians; the live music was extraordinarily tight and studio quality. I was so impressed with the Venusians that I had to purchase a CD on site: Dance of the Helix.

'Dance of the Helix' was a continuation of the phenomenon that is the Venusians. The music was extraordinarily beautiful, complex/simple and filled my right brain with joy and contentment! Excellent!

I mentioned to Matt Venuti that I hoped his music could become part of the Pandora Music Project. It would allow the masses to enjoy the music of the Venusians!

pure joy!
I love listening to this album! The combination of ambient and world influences create a joyous quality that makes it a favorite.
The hang drum is just incredible. I want to hear more!

Everyone's new favorite band!
What talent! Completely unique, almost other worldly, but still has 2 feet planted solidly on the ground. Dance of the Helix has become everyones new favorite CD that I have played it for. People who see them live are mesmerized. Can't recommend the CD OR a live performance enough.

Georgina Vaughn

love the instrumentation and moods
I had the pleasure of playing a little on the Hang in Kona, Hawaii recently when the Venusians did a gig. Now I've had the opportunity to hear most of the Dance of the Helix/ I find it an album I really love for the feelings it promotes. I love the way the musicians experiment with music stetching it in new ways. I hope they record lots more!

Outta dis world!!!
This is a great CD! It utilizes my favorite new instrument (the Hang) in an ensemble situation unilike anything else out there. Very catchy, very sophisticated, great blend of World, Jazz, and Pop. Even without the Hang, the songs stand strong. More from Matt, please.
