Mark Williams has been drawing attention with his impassioned voice for years now. His thoughtful songwriting and deep artistry, coupled with relentless touring, have gathered a loyal nationwide fanbase. Mark has played from New Hampshire to Arizona almost literally sharing a piece of himself with folks nearly everywhere in between. The grassroots support he has enjoyed is part of a larger picture of people connecting with the vulnerable, honest, heartfelt songwriting Mark has championed. His writing is quietly intelligent, and yet remarkably accessible-intensely personal, yet incredibly universal.


Mark began his professional musical journey in 1995 with the release of his first CD, "a beggar at the door," which proved itself in the local music scene around Chapel Hill, NC-a haven for cutting edge rock/pop. And there was no "sophomore slump" with the release of the follow-up "journals of a recovering skeptic" in 1997. In fact, its strength launched Mark onto the national stage. The critical praise "journals" garnered earned Mark a spot in 7ball magazine as one of the Top 25 independent artists in the nation-and he was the only solo artist chosen for the honor. CCM Magazine and Prism Magazine also praised Mark's artistic vision with "journals."


Now, with "becoming the moon," Mark has produced his best work to date by far. This release ventures into some new musical territory, exploring complex themes of personal growth in the context of a more atmospheric sound. It is a record about change, about living as a fallen creature in a fallen world. The songs are earthy and real. And at the very heart of it all-the centerpiece-is gracious mercy offered to the listener.
