Album Notes

Born & Raised in Our Nation's Capital, Mycah Chevalier had a vision to cook up an ensemble reminiscent of her own Creole upbringing. Mycah will take you on a journey with sultry musings as smooth as Sade, then turn heads with soulful belts that lend a certain "Chaka-esq" flair! Mycah will amaze you when she serenades you with everything from Tricia Yearwood to Chaka Khan & Phyllis Hyman. As you will hear for yourself, Mycah is definitely in a class all her own.
Vocalist, actress, and dancer extraordinaire, Mycah Chevalier began her vocal and dance training at the age of five at Howard University's Children’s Theater, led by Mr. Ricky Payton (Founder and Director of the BET Urban Nation HIP-HOP Choir and HBO special and play, City at Peace), and furthered her vocal studies in college under the tutelage of Linda Allison, a member of the Washington Opera. During her childhood years, Mycah performed in a host of musical productions through Howard University, the Kennedy Center’s Children's Theater programs, Washington Choral Arts Society and more.
As one of the lead vocalists for the "Tough Act To Follow" Band, Mycah traveled for 4 years, and had the honor of sharing the stage with music legend, Luther Vandross. In addition to her road experience with T.A.T.F., Mycah's other accomplishments include: singing and recording with local DC Groups "Chosen", Miraj, Soul Patrol, Stress Free Band, Let It Flow, Double Digit, Sol Edler and singing with Philip Jaymes Flowers as the opening act for the Whispers at DC’s Carter Baron Amphitheater. She was also cast in Debbie Allen's production of Soul Possessed, starring world-renowned recording artists, Patti Labelle, and trumpet player, Arturo Sandoval; Gospel artist James Trey Howard Featuring Surrender; In 2006 Mycah spent 3 months performing in Ethiopia and Sweden. While there, Mycah was part of the opening act for major recording artist Ja Rule, during the Ethiopian New Year Celebration! Last, but not least…Mycah was featured at the Smooth Jazz Brunch (formerly hosted by WSMJ 104.3FM) in Baltimore. She was also featured on the radio’s website along with pianist Dawoud Said performing “Shadow of Your Smile” (Available on Mycah’s new CD titled “Roux’s Fantasy”).
