Album Notes

Myllärit is a brisk new-wave folk band from Petrozavodsk, Russian Carelia.

Myllärit makes its own arrangements of traditional carelian songs and melodies. The material to
songs band has been gathered for example from old carelian bards during traditional song events.
When arranging the songs the old traditions have been taken into consideration.
Sound of the band is boisterous and, sometimes, rough.
There are also influences from rock, jazz and worldmusic.

when on stage the atmosphere gets boisterous as the band knows how to take it´s audience.
This explains why Myllärit is so much in demand. The band is at it´s best when playing
in rockclubs and worldmusicfestivals.

The band is versatile when it comes to instruments, not only guitars, but also violin, accordions, pipes,
kantele and "carelian syntetizicer" jouhikko are heard when band plays it´s music. Songs are performed
in carelian traditional languages and also in finnish and russian.

Myllärit has toured and played all around the world from Siperia to U.S. during it´s 10 year long career.
