These songs speak to the soul of every post-grunge music fan who craves unique yet poppy melodies and lyrical depth. The sonic aesthetic is mostly bass and drums with vocals (the band being a bass and drum duo), but there are textures of electric and acoustic guitars, piano, mellotron, keys, and percussion that give the album a maturity and "instant classic" appeal that critics and music fans alike tend to enjoy. Produced by Holden, the lead singer and bassist, this album shows what can happen when 2 friends with over a decade of professional experience in other bands get together and create music without the pressures of a record label or anyone else. This is 2 experienced artists showing off their pop/rock chops with no apologies for the catchy melodic flavor or rubato basslines. At times self-indulgant but mostly accessible, this album is one of the few nowadays that can be listened from beginning to end without skipping past any less than ideal tracks. The band hand picked these songs after road-testing them for 2 years - they are the fan favorites.
