Album Notes

Mystery Train are a Cambridgeshire-based band who specialise in good-time, rootsy, Blues and R'n'B-based music. They perform traditonal Blues numbers, Rock 'n' Roll and original songs as well as some covers of greats like dylan Neil young and Townes Van Zandt. Let It Roll is their first CD of all original songs, featuring the song-writing talents of four different members of the band and touching musical bases from roots country through classic blues to both americana and "brit-rock" song styles. This album takes part of its inspiration from The Basement Tapes and the early albums by The Band but with a lyrical english feel. Malcolm Guite, Mystery Train's front man writes:
The first Album I ever bought, at the age of 12, was Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited...I don't think I really knew what my kind of music was then, but I certainly did by the time the needle was clicking on the groove at the end of side one! What a revelation! Poetry, Country blues, and Chicago R'n'B all melded together to make a music that moved your body, stimulated your mind, and drew your soul towards a mystery you knew you would never unravel. I was hooked!
Mystery Train rides the grooves and rythms of those classic tracks but takes them in a new direction.
