The Hungarian electronic jazz duet launched their musical activity at the beginning of the turn of the millennium, though the two members, István Munkácsi and Béla Balázs, had already collaborated in several Hungarian jazz and funk bands.
Having been a session guitarist for over twenty years, István felt like making his own, more electronic, acid jazz-flavoured ideas come true, then he teamed up with Béla, the bass player and started the project. Both of them adored modern jazz and funk sounds and this was the starting point, which their unique, tension-free, easygoing music was then built on.
The electronics and the edition of the songs are mainly arranged by Béla but they write the songs together and the recording sessions often feature various excellent musicians and vocalists. Their songs soon gained popularity in the lounge and easy listening circles and having appeared in several Hungarian and international selections, the boys began making their LP 'Use Your Head' with renewed strength, which was released in end of 2006. Mystical Plants live up to their name as their enthusiastic and natural music heals the soul and can be taken without prescription.

Seriously, just buy it now. E-mail me later to ask what I liked about it. Most probably, the same thing as you will. Specifics? Ok, the subtle blend of Acid Jazz and related genres, songs you can turn down and chill to, or crank and dance to. It's a journey taking you through different feels and grooves, and they're all welcome. If you also like Mo' Horizons, or Brand New Heavies, this is a perfect fit on your i-Pod or CD shelf too. So, that's what I like about it, how 'bout you?
